Hong Thai strives to provide Thai recipes that the whole family will enjoy. Everything we do is a celebration of authentic Thai style food, from how we source and prepare each dish to how it is presented in a way that pleases everyone. Our menu offers a variety of traditional Thai and Chinese style dishes along with many gluten-free and vegan options. Our family is committed to bringing you an authentic experience that you cannot find anywhere else. That’s how Hong Thai does Thai food better!
Before the creation of Hong Thai, there was a young woman named Bounyeng Carstensen who was passionate about sharing her authentic Thai and Lao dishes with all her friends and family. Being a natural businesswoman, Bounyeng successfully brought her most enjoyed Thai dishes from her homeland to Minnesota by opening her first Hong Thai Restaurant in Albertville January of 2003. Her uncle Wilson Keothoungphet helped jumpstart the businesses by cooking and organizing all of the family recipes into the way that would provide authentic and consistent dishes. In 2006, Bounyeng and her husband Randy Carstensen decided “High risk, High reward” was the next big step to success and opened their second Hong Thai in Rogers, MN. The family efforts to succeed with both restaurants during the recession lead to confidence and their eldest son Derek Carstensen opened the third restaurant in Maple Grove, MN in 2016. Now the Hong Thai family promises to source and provide the highest quality Thai cuisine and to set the standard for better Thai food.
